Travis Morrison
FINALLY
A new record from Travis Morrison is coming in a month!
August 21st to be exact.
I’m really excited to see where he’s going to go with this one, he’s been singing with gospel choirs and stuff.
Well, holy crap, as I was updating myself on him at His website I realized that the whole album is available for streaming. This is a good Sunday.
yewknee challenge
I challenge you Michael, find a better video game/rap mashup. That Snoop one was pretty weak, but this David Banner one is the bizzzz-omb

Here’s the video Michael posted for reference:
Beautiful
Today we had a group presentation that I would say my group was 90% ready for. This led to a little bit of hilarity on my part. I am going by my notecards…. well, kinda glancing at them, then saying everything on them wrongly…. and kept catching myself spouting off the wrong facts, correcting myself, then mumbling under my breath how stupid I am. Of course when you are in a class room that is about 20 feet by 10 feet. This leads to everyone else hearing you call yourself stupid under your breath, then laughing.
It’s alright though, I knew they were going to hear me, especially the second and third time I did it.
Negelect
All 5 of you. I’m not neglecting you. I’ve currently been working on about 3 homeworks a night, trying my darndest to work 20 hours a week, work on a database for a client, and sleep. I haven’t had time for much of anything. I don’t get to sit down and regularly surf the net in these last weeks of school, but I’ll try and keep you updated.
Tomorrow I do a presentation for one of my classes, and turn in some of the hardest homework I’ve had to do in my 5.5 years in school. Then I’ll just have one more presentation to do, and two more tests to take, then I’m out. Today I took my last test in one of my classes, so I can focus on group work until next Thursday.
Oh, and it doesn’t help that Harry Potter 7 came out this weekend. I had to sit down and read it in spite of all this homework. I think I was on the internet for a total of about 4 minutes this past weekend. I was worried I would somehow get the ending spoiled, so I avoided contact with humans.
Don’t lay in bed for a whole weekend reading and doing homework. It makes your neck stiff and your back sore. I need to exercise. Is there a way to exercise and do homework at the same time?
Flight of the Conchords
Flight of the Conchords is a strangely hypnotic show. I love the breaks into songs. I love the songs. I love Britt, I love Jermaine, and even Murray.
The sound on the show is awesome, and it’s also extremely deadpan hilarious.
Plus Eugene Mirman is on the show randomly all the time, and he’s hilarious too.
Business Cards pt 2
You might remember my post from last January where I bought 250 business cards from Office Depot for $.99 after shipping. <center>

Patience finally paid off. Yesterday a local eatery (Gordos) called me and told me I won a free lunch!
THE POTENTIAL WAS REALIZED!
Buying Albums
I tell you what… when I’m gainfully employed after a 2 and a half year break from making money to finish school… I’m going to be buying a LOT of albums, preferably on vinyl. I prefer to download albums somehow digitally (usually through not-so-legal means), and just buy vinyl albums. My preference of vinyl over CD or digital download is not about the acoustic quality of the albums, it’s about the artwork. Half of the albums I buy, I don’t even know what the music sounds like until I buy it. I buy them because the cover catches my eye.
I don’t advocate illegally downloading music, I don’t usually vocally admit that I do download illegal music, and I certainly won’t mention any of the music I might have obtained through shady means. I am trying to just get across the point that it’s not just about the music, I buy albums by mostly independent artists who choose to release their albums on vinyl as well as CD. I also mostly only listen to these artists anyways, and end up owning most of their albums. I don’t think that downloading something to listen to has harmed anyone, except in the case where I downloaded something that I just flat-out do not like and that influences my decision to not buy the album.
So you could say that downloading music has saved me a little bit of money.
This is what’s currently tempting me to spend money that I do not have. Grandaddy/Polyphonic Spree 7″ split
Let me also state that the best thing you can do for a band is purchase their albums at their shows. Not only are you supporting them financially on their tour (where a good amount of real money is made), but you’re also buying an album direct from the band rather than from a store that takes a cut, and usually the record label takes slightly less money from these direct sales.
Also, the albums are usually cheaper, $10 no shipping and tax already calculated in.
I’m trying to find a good source for buying vinyl online at the moment just so I have something to do when I find a job and have expendable income again. If I can’t find a good retailer, it looks like I’ll just make frequent trips to Waterloo. Now that I think of it, Waterloo will order any album you want, so they might be the way to go. It decreases the risk of postal damage and damage from the elements.
If you have any retailers you can think of online, please let me know.
Last First
Today was the last first day of school. Sorry mom, I forgot to take a picture of me in all my new school clothes.
This semester is going to be extremely difficult but should be over very quickly, cause today blew by.
I really need to finish this database project as soon as possible, because I’m already spending about 90% of my time at home in my room (the other 10% is spent in the kitchen and bathroom, respectively)
Got an email from my old boss today that made me chuckle. I borrowed a line conditioner (basically a device that acts like a surge protector, except it makes sure the power going to the device is always at a constant level) from them about a year ago to combat a problem where my computer kept turning off at random times in the day. It fixed the problem, but when I moved here to my current residence, I didn’t need it anymore and forgot to take it back. For reference, Marge is the secretary of the department:
“You are still down in the loaner book as having the line conditioner. I told Marge not to put a hold on your record but she is eager to use the power.”
I love puns
Transformers
I saw Transformers last night. You want to go see this movie. Even if you’ve never seen any of the old cartoons, and know nothing about the subject, it doesn’t matter. The story introduces everything, so you don’t get that feeling of being at a movie where you don’t understand what’s going on (example: seeing Serenity without seeing the show Firefly first).
The action scenes were awesome, They did a good job of showing the transformations and totally setup a franchise. You will see more of Transformers in the future, and I won’t put it past this movie to shooting straight to the top of the highest grossing movies list.
Kwik-E-Mart
I think so far, the most amazing part of the simpsons movie adverts and tie-ins would have to be the 7-11 in Mountain View CA that has been completely re-imagined into a Kwik-E-Mart.
Check out the photoset on flickr.
I bet every single one of those products will be on ebay, and go for really good prices.
I like that they changed the Slurpee’s name to Squishee nationwide. I hope they change the look of all the 7-11’s in the country. I’ll do all my grocery shopping at the local one if they change it.
