Nerdy Pet Peeve
Here’s a little nerdy rant I’ve been meaning to get off my chest for a while.
The use of the phrase “Next Gen” really really annoys me. I should say the misuse.
The newest, latest, greatest consoles that are out are the XBox 360, The PS3, and the Nintendo Wii. All of them have CURRENT GEN graphics. NONE of them have next generation graphics.
Next Generation should not be a phrase used to describe the CURRENT and existing gaming consoles. It should be a phrase used to describe what’s coming up in the future.
That would be like calling today (which is saturday) “next saturday”

Dear Internet
Well, my extensive search for employment is over. I can’t stand being out of work.
I’ve been waking up at 8am everyday all the way back since Monday, and have been spending 8 hours a day all the way back since monday searching for a job.
Monday at 4:30 I saw a posting on craigslist for a job, sent a cover letter and resume to it. 5 minutes later, got a phone call asking if I was willing to interview. Said yes, and the lady said she would send my information on to the employer, a little company called Advanced Micro Devices.
The next day, I got a call back telling me to be at AMD at 10am on Wednesday, while I was in an interview for a different job (which I also got, but declined due to the awesomeness of the AMD job).
I interviewed with AMD this morning, and everything went swimmingly.
After I left the interview, I called my recruiter to let her know that it went swimmingly. She told me she would call me right back.
She called me back 3 minutes later to let me know I got the job.
Now that I don’t have to worry about telling people about it, and getting my hopes up, the job’s title is “Tradeshow Technician” I would basically be on a team of people in charge of creating and building concept computers for AMD and their product lines. This includes making devices that can interface with today’s generation of video game machines, and other devices.
Not only is that awesome, but then I will be traveling around the country about 25% of the time (one week a month average), going to trade shows and expos and events to make sure the products we created and built are running correctly and efficiently.
Seriously, this is awesome.
I also got called and offered a job as an Apple Genius. I declined that, cause how can you pass up all that travel?!?!

I’ve had the song Selfish Jean stuck in my head for a while, it’s a Travis song, it’s in my summer mix.
I just finally watched the video for the song today, it’s been sitting on my computer for a few months, and I missed the boat on this being fresh, but I didn’t realize Demitri Martin was in the video.

The eve of the last day I will ever be in school, and our air conditioner breaks.
At least years of summer camps taught me the importance of a good box fan. I wish I had a bunk bed though, cause I was a master engineer when it came to building wind tunnels.
It might not seem like much, but when you have your computer and all other heat producing devices in the HOUSE turned off, and it’s still 85 degrees in the house, you know you’re in Texas.
Oh well, at least tomorrow’s the day of my last final ever, and I get graded on my database project that I’ve been working on since late May. I’m hoping for a B, but will accept a C.
