DeepDiscount

Don’t buy any DVDs online for a few weeks.  If years past tell me anything about the future, then in about two weeks, Deep Discount will be having their 20% off sale, so keep your eyes out.

Retirement Account

I started a retirement account last week with an initial deposit of $175 into it.  Already it’s up to $177.35.  Hopefully it will continue to gain money like this.  It’s a weird account, it’s basically a mutual fund, so everyday, depending on the stocks that it is invested in, it will go up or down.  Just so happens that I bought in at a low point last week.

Yearly it’s been yielding an average of 12%, which is way better than the poor 4-5% that my savings account yields.

After things settle down a little with my bills, I’m going to start playing the stock market.  Depending on a company to take care of your retirement just doesn’t seem like an option to me.  Though, it would be nice to work for a company that matches a percentage of my investment each month, cause that’s free money.

Being an adult sure is fun.

earbud headphones

There should be a webpage that keeps track of all the time wasted untangling earbud headphones.  I’ve been using earbuds for a few weeks now, and remember why I don’t like them (aside from the slight soreness after a few hours).

I think my total is up to about 2 Hours of untangling.

Words to hate: Right on

seriously, what is with the stupid resurgence of the phrase “right on”, it’s really annoying because IT DOESN’T REALLY STATE ANYTHING!  Its just a way of saying, I acknowledge that you have said something, but I have nothing to say about it, but I must say something, so….  “right on”

Also, what is up with it?  Are we all trying to be Tommy Chong?  It’s not the 70’s anymore people, lets stop this.

Amazing color photos from the last 100 years

This website is amazing.

It has color slides from the last 100+ years.  It’s really weird to look at photos from the 40s and realize that the world wasn’t washed out and black and white.

Tire Blowout

I had my first tire blow out on me today.  That was a fun experience.  I was about 15 minutes early for work and driving along, so I figured I would head over to chik-fil-a for a breakfast sandwich.  I had to U-turn under a highway to do it, and a semi was in the left hand turning lane.  It was stopped, as I approached the u-turn lane, all of a sudden the semi turns it’s blinker on and swerves over into my lane.  I didn’t have much time to react and figured it would be better to vear a little to my left while slamming on my brakes.  Of course that means my wheels locked up and I slid right into the curb.  The curb then popped my tire and put a huge hole in it.

By the time I realized what just happened, the semi was gone.  grrr….

Thankfully this occured right by a wal-mart,  so I pulled in, put my spare (which was basically flat too) on, and drove over to the automotive department and got a new tire.

I was of course 2 hours late to work, so grrr again.

I did notice a slight scratch from the “accident” on the wheelwell, but other than that, my car didn’t seem to have any damage.

Even with a 3.5 mile drive to work, you can get in an accident, ugh.
